Vale Peter McNamara

The Davis Cup Foundation are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Peter McNamara. Peter was a proud Australian and key Davis Cup team member under the guidance of captain Neale Fraser.

President of the Foundation, Todd Woodbridge said today “Peter had a stellar playing career reaching a career high of world No.7 in singles and world No.3 in doubles. Best known as part of the famous doubles partnership with Paul McNamee, the “Supermacs” won two Wimbledon titles and most certainly inspired the “Woodies” Mark Woodforde and myself to follow in their footsteps.”

Peter went on to become one of the game’s leading coaches, working with the likes of Mark Philippoussis and Grigor Dimitrov.

We send our condolences to Peter’s wife Petra and children at this sad time.
